As a newspaper writer, I know how to be brief. But against my better judgment, I sometimes (too often) slip into needless wordiness.
I’m reading a book right now about brevity and figured I’d flex that writing muscle this afternoon for Examiner+.
Research indicates I have less than a second to capture your interest and, if I grab it, only get about 30 seconds of your attention, if I’m lucky.
Thoughtfulness doesn’t require verbosity. But verbosity can interfere with effective communication.
Normally, this writeup would be a 750 to 1,500 word narrative, and include a detailed interview. Today, it’s an approximately 350-word quick hit. (There’s a place for both).
